Shepherd of the Sea Lutheran Church, located in Garden City, has impacted the community and supports Neighbor to Neighbor’s volunteerism and board of directors. A church family of Christian Fellowship whose mission is to serve our Savior and care for ALL, Shepherd of the Sea offers a wide array of services and outreach. Their food pantry is open Tuesday through Thursday each week from 9-noon. They feed over 1,500 people monthly! They are also the host congregation for Mobile Meals of the South Strand that provides a hot meal for seniors in the community. Many of our Neighbor to Neighbor riders would qualify for this service to receive meals. Also, every Wednesday from 11:30 to 1 pm they host the Community Lunch program in partnership with 3 other local congregations. Many great connections are made over a shared meal and having a human connection is essential to our well-being and overall health. According to Pastor Brad, pastor of Shepherd of the Sea, “loneliness and isolation is an epidemic in our community. So many people make connections to one another at these lunches and find new friendships and support. We are so excited about what God is up to in bringing so many people together and helping us ‘feed the need’ in our community!”
